A legislative effort to make Washington more attractive to the alternative jet fuel industry has reached the state Senate’s Ways and Means Committee.

The Port of Seattle is studying if and how it should get into the business of producing and distributing hydrogen, part of a strategy to increase traffic.

The money has been lined up to study whether to develop a Seattle-area landfill into a source for electric power or biofuel.
