Charge Up New Jersey
With a goal of registering 330,000 EVs in the state by 2025, New Jersey has more than 215,000 EVs on the road. The state gained momentum in 2023, adding about 62,500 vehicles for a 68% year-over year jump in sales.
The shift in incentive strategy, toward low- and mid-income buyers, comes as New Jersey seeks to continue its recent relatively strong EV sales amid signs of weakening markets in other states.
New programs will also offer special incentives to spur installation of EV chargers at New Jersey's tourist destinations and multiunit dwellings.
Jersey City unveiled a new fleet of 20 Chevrolet Bolts and five electric garbage trucks in an Earth Day celebration of the city’s effort to decarbonize.
