US Way Behind China in Deploying Heavy-duty EVs
Penske Logistics has been testing a Freightliner eCascadia 100 percent battery electric truck to make freight runs on I-15 in California. "This is the way of the future," said 10-year veteran Penske Driver Donald Disesa, who regularly drives the big rig. "The truck is so quiet. Everything is so smooth. It gives you time to focus on what is going on around you." Freightliner brought Peneske into the development of the truck early for feedback that helped with the design. The truck will come with a choice of two motors, 360 to 525 horsepower, be powered by a 475 kilowatt-hour battery and of 250 miles. The battery can be charged to 80 percent in 90 minutes. Production begins in late 2022. | Run On Less, Penske
