Study Shows Uneven Benefits for California, Rest of West in Single Market
BPA Gives Western Stakeholders Glimpse into WMEG Day-ahead Study Findings
The Western Markets Exploratory Group study compared results between two market scenarios. In the 'EDAM Bookend' scenario, the entire U.S. portion of the Western Interconnection joins CAISO's EDAM, while the 'Main Split Footprint' scenario assumes EDAM membership for only PacifiCorp, LADWP, BANC, Turlock Irrigation District and Imperial Irrigation District, with the rest of the West joining SPP's Markets+. | BPA

The results from a WMEG study indicate that many entities outside California would see more benefits from a two-market outcome while the Golden State has the most to lose from such a split.
