December’s average day-ahead and real-time energy prices were the lowest since MISO implemented the ancillary services market in January 2009.
With the spring season underway, the MISO Markets Committee of the Board of Directors reviewed this past winter and the upcoming summer.
Monitor David Patton said that although MISO markets and operations performed well over a warmer-than-usual summer, there is room for improvement.
Turbulent spring weather in MISO South and more expensive natural gas contributed to MISO’s highest energy prices since December.
